Yellow Fire Shrimp
Yellow Fire Shrimp
The Yellow Fire dwarf shrimp, an intensely yellow color morph of Neocaridina davidi (formerly heteropoda), boasts striking hues akin to the well-known Red Fire Sakura/Cherry shrimp. Found in China, Taiwan, and Korea, these shrimp thrive in small streams, ponds, and reedy areas.
With bright yellow to yellow-orange bodies, often featuring a distinct back line in females, they exhibit vibrant colors, particularly in females. Omnivorous by nature, they readily consume various foods, making them easy to care for in aquariums.
Peaceful and undemanding, Yellow Fire shrimp coexist well with other tank mates, especially fish that don’t prey on shrimp. They thrive in a decorated tank with moss, driftwood, and hiding places like tubes or autumn leaves, fostering a comfortable environment.
In well-planted tanks, females release up to 30 shrimplets every 5 to 6 weeks, with some even maturing alongside fish. The yellow color intensifies with age, though a small percentage may display weaker hues among offspring.
